Origin and Habitat
‘Durex’ is a cultivated Aeonium hybrid of uncertain parentage, selected for ornamental foliage and rosette form. Unlike naturally occurring species, cultivated hybrids do not have a native habitat. The genus Aeonium is centred largely in the Canary Islands and includes succulent plants adapted to mild, seasonally dry subtropical environments. Many cultivated Aeonium hybrids have been selected for enhanced foliage colour, compact growth, and distinctive rosettes.
Description
Aeonium ‘Durex’ is an ornamental hybrid grown primarily for its attractive rosettes and changing seasonal foliage colour. Fleshy leaves form symmetrical rosettes at the ends of developing stems, creating an increasingly branched specimen with age. Colour intensity can vary considerably with light, temperature, season, and growing conditions, with the strongest tones generally developing under bright light and cooler conditions.
