Origin and Habitat
Aeonium 'Lotus Flower' is a cultivated ornamental hybrid selected for its colourful foliage and large, symmetrical rosettes. Its ancestry traces to Aeonium species native primarily to the Canary Islands, where they inhabit rocky slopes, cliffs, and exposed volcanic terrain in mild, seasonally dry climates. As a horticultural hybrid, 'Lotus Flower' does not occur naturally in the wild.
Description
Aeonium 'Lotus Flower' is a striking succulent producing broad, densely layered rosettes with a distinctive lotus-like appearance. As shown in our plants, the spoon-shaped leaves have green centres that transition into bronze to burgundy tones with brilliant rose-pink to magenta margins. Colour intensity varies with season, temperature, and light, with the strongest pink and red tones typically developing under bright growing conditions. Mature plants develop branching stems topped with large rosettes and may reach approximately 12–24" tall. Growth is strongest during cooler weather and slows considerably during hot summer conditions.

Zone: 9–11
Temperature: 10–24°C; protect from frost and prolonged temperatures below 5°C.
Growth Rate: Moderate during the cooler growing season.
Soil: Fast-draining cactus and succulent mix amended generously with pumice.
Watering: Water thoroughly when the soil approaches dryness during active growth. Reduce watering substantially during hot summer dormancy.
Fertilizing: Feed lightly with diluted balanced fertilizer during active growth from autumn through spring.
Light: Bright light to partial sun. Good light promotes compact growth and intensifies the pink and burgundy foliage coloration. Protect from extreme afternoon heat.
Pests and Diseases: Watch for mealybugs, aphids, scale, and root or stem rot associated with excessive moisture.
Propagation
Best propagated from stem or rosette cuttings. Allow cut surfaces to callus before planting into a porous, well-drained growing medium.
