Pot Size: 3.5"
Accepted Scientific Name: Sedum Sunsparkler® ‘Cherry Tart’
Origin and Habitat:
Sedum Sunsparkler® ‘Cherry Tart’ is a cultivated hybrid developed for ornamental use, derived from hardy stonecrop species native to Europe and Asia. These species naturally occur in rocky outcrops, alpine slopes, and well-drained soils where moisture is limited and sunlight is abundant. Adapted to harsh, exposed environments, this hybrid retains excellent drought tolerance and cold hardiness while offering improved color intensity and compact growth. It is especially suited to modern landscapes, rock gardens, and container culture.
Description:
Sedum ‘Cherry Tart’ is a low-growing, spreading perennial forming dense mats approximately 6–8 inches tall and 12–18 inches wide. The foliage emerges deep cherry red to burgundy, intensifying in full sun and cooler temperatures. Leaves are small, fleshy, and rounded, tightly packed along trailing stems. In late summer to early fall, clusters of star-shaped pink flowers rise just above the foliage, creating a striking contrast against the dark leaves and attracting pollinators.
