Pot Size: 5" Basket
Accepted Scientific Name: Hildewintera colademononis (syn. Cleistocactus colademononis)
Origin and Habitat:
Hildewintera colademononis is native to the mountainous regions of Bolivia, where it grows as an epiphytic or lithophytic cactus on steep rocky cliffs and among shrubs at elevations of 1,000–1,700 metres. In habitat, the plants experience bright filtered light, seasonal rainfall, cool nights, and excellent air circulation. Its unusual growth habit and spectacular appearance have made it one of the most sought-after hanging basket cacti in cultivation.
Description:
Monkey Tail Cactus forms long cascading stems that may reach 48–96 inches in length over time. The cylindrical stems are densely covered with soft white hair-like spines, creating the appearance of a monkey's tail. Mature plants produce brilliant red tubular flowers approximately 2–3 inches long that emerge from the sides of the stems during spring and summer. The combination of trailing stems, soft appearance, and vibrant flowers makes this species a dramatic specimen for hanging baskets, elevated containers, and succulent displays.
