Euphorbia

Euphorbias are a very diverse family that grows in many climate zones. The more then 2500 species range from succulent species in South Africa to spurges in Europe. They also range in size and shape from small succulent species no bigger then an egg to massive trees 40’ across and 40’ high. All however have the same milky white sap that that is the hallmark of the species. This sap has an acoustic quality to it and these plants need to be handled with care. Euphoria are collected for there structure as the flowers can fairly non descript. The one exception to this is the holiday Poinsettia which red leave are actually part of the flower.

Euphoprbia are for the most part a very easy plant to grow and are tolerant of a variety of conditions. Some of the Madagascar species may require more careful watering. All Euphorbia enjoy excellent airflow. With the shear variety of species, shapes and sizes there is truly a Euphorbia for everyone.
