Pachyphytum

Pachyphytum

Pachyphytum is a genus of 15 succulent species that are native to mountainous areas of Eastern Central Mexico. They are closely related to Echeveria and a number of intergenic crosses have been create over the years. This genus is easily recognized by the smooth plump rounded leaves that are very loosely attached. Any of these leaves that are knocked off and land on the soil will quickly spout a plant-let and root in short order. Many species have striking marking and light colored powder on their leaves making this very attractive genus of plants to collect. Many hybrids and cultivars have been bred over time so there is lots of choice to keep both amateurs and experienced happy.
