Accepted Scientific Name: Sedum dendroideum

Origin and Habitat:
Sedum dendroideum is native to central and southern Mexico, where it grows on rocky slopes, cliffs, and open, sunny hillsides. It thrives in well-drained volcanic soils and arid to semi-arid climates, often found among other succulents and xerophytic shrubs. The species is adapted to periods of drought, storing water in its fleshy leaves to survive dry seasons and resuming growth with rainfall.

Description:
This shrubby succulent forms upright, branched stems reaching 12–24 inches tall and 12–18 inches wide. The leaves are bright green, rounded, and often tipped with red when exposed to sun. Clusters of small, star-shaped yellow flowers appear in late winter to spring, attracting pollinators and adding vivid color to the plant’s canopy.

Growth rate: Moderate to fast
Soil: Well-draining mix with pumice
Watering: Water moderately during active growth; keep nearly dry in winter

Easily propagated from stem cuttings or leaf cuttings placed in well-draining soil and allowed to root before watering.
