Pot Size: 8"
Accepted Scientific Name: Trichocereus ‘Sun Goddess’
Origin and Habitat:
Trichocereus ‘Sun Goddess’ is a horticultural hybrid derived from South American Trichocereus species native to the Andes of Argentina, Bolivia, and Peru. Its parentage typically includes Trichocereus grandiflorus and Trichocereus huascha, species found on rocky slopes and dry scrublands between 1,000–3,000 meters elevation. These regions feature high solar exposure, well-drained soils, and seasonal rainfall, ideal for cactus growth and flowering.
Description:
This columnar cactus grows upright, typically reaching 24–36 inches tall and 4-8 inches in diameter in cultivation. The stems are shiny green with well-defined ribs and short, golden spines. During late spring and summer, it produces spectacular, large, brilliant white trumpet-shaped flowers with glowing yellow centers. Each bloom opens in daylight, lasting a day or two, and creates a vivid display of color.
