Accepted Scientific Name: Heuchera ‘Deep Night’

Origin and Habitat:
Heuchera ‘Deep Night’ is a hybrid cultivar derived from North American species that naturally occur in woodland edges, rocky slopes, and open forest habitats. These environments offer well-drained soils rich in organic matter and moderate moisture. Adapted to varied climates, this selection thrives in garden conditions that mimic its native habitat, combining shade tolerance with durability. Its breeding emphasizes deep foliage coloration and compact form, making it suitable for ornamental borders and containers.

Description:
A compact, clump-forming perennial reaching 8–10 inches in height and 12–16 inches in width. The foliage consists of rounded, slightly lobed leaves in deep burgundy to near-black tones with a soft satin sheen. Slender stems rise above the foliage in late spring to early summer, carrying small, bell-shaped creamy white flowers that contrast beautifully with the dark leaves.
