Origin and Habitat:
Trichocereus peruvianus, commonly known as the Peruvian Torch Cactus, originates from the high-altitude Andean regions of Peru. It thrives in arid, rocky soils, where it has adapted to intense sunlight, dry conditions, and cool nighttime temperatures. This species plays a crucial role in its native ecosystem, providing shelter and food for various insects and animals.
Description:
This hybrid, Clyde x Blue3, features the robust columnar growth typical of Trichocereus peruvianus, reaching up to 10 feet (300 cm) in height and 4–6 inches (10–15 cm) in diameter. It has pronounced ribs lined with golden to brown spines, which contrast beautifully against its bluish-green epidermis. During the blooming season, it produces large, trumpet-shaped white flowers that open at night, exuding a sweet fragrance to attract pollinators.
