Pot Size: 3.5"
Accepted Scientific Name:
Sempervivum 'Colorock® Ruby Lime'
Origin and Habitat:
Sempervivum, commonly known as houseleeks or hens and chicks, originates from mountainous regions of Europe and Asia. These hardy succulents thrive in rocky, well-draining soils and are well-adapted to extreme temperature fluctuations. They naturally grow in alpine environments where they endure harsh winters, intense sun, and minimal water, making them resilient and easy to cultivate in various climates.
Description:
Sempervivum Colorock® Ruby Lime is a striking, low-growing rosette-forming succulent that reaches 4-6 inches in height and spreads up to 12 inches. Its leaves transition from deep ruby-red at the tips to vibrant lime-green at the base, creating a unique bicolor effect. In summer, mature rosettes produce tall flower stalks with clusters of star-shaped, pinkish-red flowers that attract pollinators.
Cultivation:
Zone: Hardy in USDA zones 4-9.
Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between -30°C and 30°C, making it exceptionally cold-hardy.
Growth Rate: Moderate to fast, spreading through offsets.
Soil: Prefers well-draining soil with pumice for optimal root health.
Watering: Drought-tolerant; water deeply when dry but avoid excessive moisture. Reduce watering in winter.
Fertilizing: Apply a diluted succulent fertilizer every 2-3 weeks during active growth.

Pests and Diseases: Generally pest-resistant but may attract aphids or mealybugs. Overwatering can cause root rot.
Propagation:
Easily propagated by removing offsets from the mother plant. Gently separate and replant in well-draining soil. Minimal watering is needed until roots establish.
