Pot Size: 3.5"

Accepted Scientific Name:
Sempervivum 'Ashes of Roses'

Origin and Habitat:
Sempervivum 'Ashes of Roses' is a hybrid cultivar derived from Sempervivum species native to Europe and Asia. These hardy plants typically grow in mountainous regions, thriving in rocky, well-drained soils under full sun to partial shade. Adapted to harsh climates, Sempervivum are drought-tolerant and cold-hardy, making them excellent choices for rock gardens and container planting. This hybrid is celebrated for its subtle and sophisticated coloration.

Description:
Sempervivum 'Ashes of Roses' forms rosettes that grow 3 to 6 inches wide and 3 to 4 inches tall. Its fleshy, pointed leaves display a delicate blend of muted pink, soft lavender, and silvery green, reminiscent of faded rose petals. The leaf tips are often tinged with a darker hue, adding depth and contrast. In summer, it produces small, star-shaped pink flowers on upright stalks, creating a charming display.

Cultivation:
Zone: 4-9
Temperature: -20 to 25°C
Growth rate: Moderate
Soil: Well-draining pumice-based soil
Watering: Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings; drought-tolerant once established
Fertilizing: Apply a diluted fertilizer every 2-3 weeks during the active growing season
Light: Full sun to partial shade
Pests and diseases: Generally pest-resistant but watch for aphids and root rot if overwatered

Propagation:
Sempervivum 'Ashes of Roses' propagates easily through offsets. Separate the chicks from the mother rosette and plant them in a well-draining soil mix. Keep the soil slightly dry until the offsets establish roots.
