Pot Size: 3.5"

Accepted Scientific Name:
Sanifraga paniculata

Origin and Habitat
Saxifraga paniculata is a widespread species native to alpine and subalpine regions of Europe, Asia, and North America. It thrives on rocky ledges, limestone screes, and mountainous slopes where drainage is excellent and temperatures are cool. Found from Scandinavia to the Himalayas and across western North America, this species has evolved to survive in harsh, exposed environments. Its ability to colonize crevices and grow in shallow soil makes it well suited to rock gardens, troughs, and stone walls.

Description
This hardy, evergreen perennial forms tight rosettes up to 4 inches in diameter, with thick, fleshy, toothed leaves often edged with lime-encrusted margins. It spreads slowly to form a compact mat around 6 to 12 inches wide. In late spring to early summer, it produces slender, upright stems reaching 6 to 10 inches tall topped with airy panicles of small, white star-shaped flowers with yellow or red spots.
