Pachypodium bispinosum

Origin and Habitat:
Pachypodium bispinosum is native to the arid regions of South Africa, particularly in the Eastern Cape Province. It thrives in rocky outcrops and dry scrublands where it endures extreme drought and fluctuating temperatures. This caudiciform plant has evolved to store water in its thickened trunk, making it well-suited to harsh, water-scarce environments.

Description:
Pachypodium bispinosum is a slow-growing succulent shrub with a swollen, bottle-shaped caudex that can reach up to 12 inches in diameter. The spiny, branching stems grow to about 6-24 inches tall, bearing small, narrow green leaves. In the late summer and autumn, it produces beautiful tubular flowers that range in color from pale pink to deep magenta, adding vibrant contrast to its rugged form.
