Pot Size: 3.5"
Accepted Scientific Name:
Lewisia cotyledon hybrid 'Sunset Golden Yellow'
Origin and Habitat:
The original species Lewisia cotyledon comes from mountainous regions of Oregon and California. Found clinging to cliffs and rocky outcroppings, it thrives in nutrient-poor, free-draining soils with low moisture and high light levels. 'Sunset Golden Yellow' is a hybrid variety bred for ornamental appeal and bold flower color. While it does not occur naturally in the wild, it retains the hardiness and low-maintenance traits of its parent species, performing well in both rock gardens and containers across temperate climates.
Description:
This succulent perennial forms compact rosettes 4 to 6 inches wide. From late spring to early summer, upright flower stems rise to about 6 to 8 inches, each bearing a cluster of bright golden yellow, star-shaped blooms. The lush, evergreen leaves are spatulate and glossy, providing a striking base to the vivid yellow flowers, which may have subtle orange or red centers depending on sun exposure.
