Pot Size: 1 gal

Accepted Scientific Name:
Arenaria montana 'Blizzard'

Origin and Habitat:
Arenaria montana is native to the mountainous regions of southwestern Europe, particularly the Pyrenees and northern Spain. It thrives in alpine and subalpine environments where it grows in rocky, well-drained soils with good air circulation and plenty of sunlight. These regions experience cool summers, cold winters, and occasional snow cover, which the plant easily tolerates. Adapted to these tough conditions, Arenaria montana naturally forms tight mats over rocky outcrops and gravel slopes, making it well-suited for rock gardens and alpine troughs.

Description:
Arenaria montana 'Blizzard' is a dense, evergreen perennial groundcover that forms a low, cushion-like mat 2–4 inches tall and 12–18 inches wide. In late spring to early summer, it becomes covered in a profusion of pure white, star-shaped flowers with bright yellow centers, creating a brilliant display against the dark green, fine-textured foliage. Its neat habit and long bloom time make it a striking addition to borders, rock gardens, and containers.
