Pot Size: 2 gal
Accepted Scientific Name:
Achillea tomentosa 'Golden Fleece'
Origin and Habitat:
Achillea tomentosa is native to the dry, rocky slopes and grasslands of southern Europe and western Asia, particularly regions with poor, well-drained soils and full sun. It thrives in arid to semi-arid climates where it endures intense summer heat and minimal rainfall. In these habitats, the plant forms low mats that suppress weeds and provide long-lasting groundcover. The ‘Golden Fleece’ cultivar was developed for ornamental use, selected for its compact habit and bright yellow flowers.
Description:
Achillea tomentosa 'Golden Fleece' is a compact, spreading perennial that grows 6–8 inches tall and 12–18 inches wide. It forms a dense mat of finely divided, woolly gray-green foliage that gives it a soft texture. In early to mid-summer, it produces clusters of small, flat-topped golden yellow flowers that are long-lasting and highly attractive to pollinators. The plant is ideal for edging, rock gardens, and drought-tolerant landscapes.
