These areas are characterized by intense sunlight, well-drained soils, and minimal rainfall.
Description:
Stenocereus pruinosus is a basal branching columnar cactus that can grow up to 12-15 feet and 4-6 inches in diameter. Its blue-green stems have prominent ribs covered with small, white areoles and short spines. The cactus produces large, funnel-shaped flowers in shades of white to pink, which open at night. It is also known for its edible fruit, called “pitaya,” which is sweet and juicy.
