Pot Size: 3.5"
Accepted Scientific Name:
Lewisia cotyledon hybrid 'Sunset Purple Violet'
Origin and Habitat:
Native to mountainous areas in the western United States, Lewisia cotyledon is adapted to high elevations, growing in rocky, well-drained environments with cool temperatures and strong light. The hybrid cultivar 'Sunset Purple Violet' was developed for its vibrant floral display and suitability in rock gardens. Though it does not exist in nature, it thrives in similar conditions to its wild counterpart, making it an excellent addition to alpine or xeric plantings where drainage is critical.
Description:
Forming symmetrical rosettes of thick, dark green leaves, this variety stays low at 4 to 6 inches wide. In late spring, it produces 6 to 8-inch flower stems topped with violet-purple, star-shaped flowers with lighter centers and subtle striping. The floral display is bold and long-lasting, standing out brilliantly against the glossy green foliage. It is especially striking in containers or crevice gardens.
