Pot Size: 2.5"
Accepted Scientific Name:
Haworthia hybrid
Origin and Habitat:
Haworthia hybrid is a cross-bred cultivar originating from various Haworthia species native to South Africa. These plants naturally grow in arid and semi-arid environments, thriving in rocky, well-drained soils under partial shade. Their ability to store water in fleshy leaves allows them to endure prolonged droughts. Hybrids are bred for enhanced ornamental traits, making them prized among succulent enthusiasts for their unique patterns and forms.
Description:
The Haworthia hybrid grows to a compact size of 2 to 4 inches in height and 4 to 6 inches in width. Its rosette-forming leaves are thick, fleshy, and often feature a mix of green tones with translucent or variegated patterns. Stress from sunlight or drought can produce reddish or pinkish accents. The plant occasionally blooms, producing small, tubular flowers in white or pale pink on tall, slender stalks.
Cultivation:
Zone: 10-11
Temperature: Best grown at 12°C -25°C, not lower then 5°C.
Growth rate: Slow
Soil: Well-draining pumice-based soil
Watering: Water thoroughly only when the soil is completely dry
Fertilizing: Apply a diluted fertilizer once a month during spring and summer
Light: Prefers light shade with gentle morning sun exposure
Pests and diseases: Susceptible to mealybugs, aphids, and root rot; avoid overwatering and ensure good air circulation
Propagation:
Haworthia hybrid propagates easily through offsets or leaf cuttings. Gently remove offsets and replant in a well-draining soil mix. Leaf cuttings should be left to callous for a few days before planting. Keep the soil lightly moist until roots develop.
