Achillea millefolium ‘Flowerburst Red’
Origin and Habitat
The species Achillea millefolium, commonly known as yarrow, is native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, including Europe, Asia, and North America. It grows naturally in meadows, grasslands, open forests, and disturbed soils, thriving in dry to moderately moist environments. ‘Flowerburst Red’ is a cultivated variety bred for enhanced ornamental value, particularly its bold color and compact growth. It is well-suited for borders, pollinator gardens, and drought-tolerant landscapes.
Description
Achillea millefolium ‘Flowerburst Red’ is a clump-forming herbaceous perennial reaching 18 to 24 inches tall and spreading up to 24 inches wide. It features finely divided, fern-like gray-green foliage that forms a soft, feathery mat at the base. Upright stems hold flat-topped clusters of bright cherry-red flowers with subtle yellow centers. Blooming from late spring into summer, the flowers attract butterflies and pollinators, and they also make excellent cut or dried flowers.
