Pleiospilos is a genus of succulent flowering plants of the family Aizoaceae, native to South Africa. These plants like others in the Aizoaceae family are commonly known as Mesembes.
In their native habitat Pleiospilos are winter growers, going dormant in the heat of summer. In more moderate climates with cool summers they can be opportunistic growers. Given adequate water they will continue to grow all year. Flowers appear in early spring and are often quite large given the size of the plant. These are great plants for beginners.
